Space and Spatial: A Roadmap for National Growth

Australia’s renewed focus on space presents an number of opportunities for industries to work together to strengthen our economy and future-proof our nation.

The spatial industry can play a significant role in contributing to the Government’s three key objectives for the space industry by 2030.

The Online GIS Journey

As the world around us continues to change day by day as a result of the global pandemic, so must the way we both interact and communicate with our clientele in many areas of business.

GIS Journey is just one of these areas at Spatial Vision to have undertaken such a change, transitioning from a physical face-to-face delivery model, into an online delivery platform for our clients, in a relatively short period of time.

Here’s how we made that transition successful.

Tsunami of Data for Local Government

There has never been a more interesting time to be involved in Local Government GIS, especially in Victoria.
There is a Tsunami of new spatial data becoming available to Local Governments that may open up opportunities for delivering more spatially intelligent and reliable services.
Graeme Martin recently spoke about the challenges, opportunities and possible responses to the initiatives cropping up, and collaborative approaches to making the most of this transformative time.

Our Future and the Role of Geospatial Knowledge Infrastructure

Location intelligence can play a role in addressing many of these issues, but only if we work together.

Geospatial Knowledge Infrastructure (GKI) is essential to facilitating such collaboration, in integrating geospatial concepts, technologies and information with societal and technological change as part of a much wider digital ecosystem.

GIS Journey to Noojee

What happens when two GIS trainers leave the hustle and bustle of the city to train in regional Victoria?

A lot, apparently!

Our trainers Marcel and Rhiannan recently headed east to the picturesque town of Noojee to conduct a customised Introduction to ArcGIS course. Many fun times were had, and challenges, too, but the experience was positively memorable for both clients and trainers alike.

Take a look here.

Digital Earth in a Transformed Society

What is a Digital Earth? According to the International Journal of Digital Earth, the term refers to “…a virtual representation of the planet, encompassing all its systems and forms, both natural environment and human societies, manifested as a multi-dimensional, multi-scale, multi-temporal, and multi-layer information facility.
“I believe we need a ‘Digital Earth’. A multi-resolution, three-dimensional representation of the planet, into which we can embed vast quantities of geo-referenced data” —Al Gore, 1998 (speech)
