Spatial Vision Recognised at the Oceanic APSEA Awards

Spatial Vision are honoured to have won the Environment & Sustainability category for the Embedding Climate Adaptation in Agriculture project along with the North East Catchment Management Authority and Natural Decisions. We were also delighted to have won the Export category award with our Geospatial Industry Strategy for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia General Commission for Surveying and FrontierSI.

The Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards (APSEA) celebrate the achievements of top spatial information enterprises and individuals and showcase the finest projects and most significant performance of professionals that the Surveying and Spatial Industry have to offer. Projects and individuals attaining recognition at this premier event are deemed to be truly outstanding achievers and pre-eminent in their field.

The Oceanic Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards were held virtually on Thursday 28 May 2020, taking the opportunity in the midst of COVID-19 to still recognise the achievements of professionals in our industry.

In accepting the award for the Embedding Climate Adaptation in Agriculture project, Spatial Vision’s Stephen Farrell gave the following speech:

“Firstly congratulations to the other nominees for being state winners.

Yes this was a great project to be involved with, and hopefully its making a tangible contribution to better understand and communicate the likely impacts of climate change on agriculture in NE Victoria.

Our spatial work was part of a larger project, although it clearly demonstrates the value in applying spatial technologies in dealing with this important challenge.

This work and award is obviously the result of a strong team effort”.

Stephen went on to acknowledge partners and the team that made this project possible. “Thanks go to the Lachlan Campbell from the North East CMA who led this initiative, our partners at Natural Decisions (Anna Roberts, Geoff Park), and Craig Beverly (from Ag Victoria). And special acknowledgement to the team at Spatial Vision, Harmen Romeijn– for the data modelling, and Ian Miller, Michael King, and Parth Parmar – for the tool design and development. And thank you to APSEA, SSSI, SIBA, GITA, the judges, and those behind this event under what is obviously a very challenging time.”
