Mappy Christmas Melbourne!

Last Sunday the second Melbourne Christmas Treasure Hunt event was held attracting a tremendous turn-out.

In what is set to become a new Christmas tradition, close to 2000 men, women and children participated in the family orientated treasure hunt in the Carlton Gardens and the slightly more challenging ‘Melbourne Quest’ across the CBD.

Geography Victoria, with the aid of many wonderful volunteers ran the event with the support of City of Melbourne and the contribution of Spatial Vision’s Jai Ryan who created the wonderful maps below.

The feedback from one mum in particular summed up the secret to the day’s success.

“With a family with a 2 year old and a 4 year old, you never know what the engagement will be with events, but we were all hooked. My 4 year old was running off with the map and her form, trying to write all the answers herself and squealing with delight when she found each one. Even the 2 year old was loving it! The length was perfect for a young family and ending near the playground was perfect. Thank you for the most wonderful Sunday family activity,  getting us outdoors and exploring!”

Meanwhile, the popular daily walking tours of Melbourne, which form part of the City of Melbourne Christmas Festival, will continue until Santa arrives.  More information is available via this link.
