The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) commissioned Spatial Vision to implement a web-mapping tool which provides information about potential land and groundwater contamination and historical business listings.
This year marks twenty years of Spatial Vision. To celebrate this milestone, our managing director Glenn Cockerton sat down with Position magazine to reflect upon the journey, and where to next.
What is a Digital Earth? According to the International Journal of Digital Earth, the term refers to “…a virtual representation of the planet, encompassing all its systems and forms, both natural environment and human societies, manifested as a multi-dimensional, multi-scale, multi-temporal, and multi-layer information facility.

Drawing on the latest climate science and downscaled modelling available through the CSIRO, Spatial Vision conducted a first-pass asset vulnerability assessment for CoPP to assist in better understanding the likely impacts of anticipated climate change to council assets. The impact and vulnerability assessment generated an impact rating based on assessed asset sensitivity to different climate change exposure scenarios.
On 18-21 June, Dr Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse, Executive Director – Strategic Consulting & International Relations joined global leaders in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the fourth United Nations Expert Consultations and Meetings on the Development of the Implementation Guide of the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (IGIF).

The Urban Sustainability brand within the City of Melbourne required a pilot project to analyse and map the thermal comfort for pedestrian routes.
The Biodiversity Division of DELWP engaged Spatial Vision to produce a mobile application in ArcCollector to be the field data capture tool for the DELWP biodiversity web mapping application STAR.
Spatial Vision developed a mobile App map ordering using solution based on advanced HTML5 hybrid framework that focuses on performance, and can create App for multiple platforms such as iOS and android as well as desktops using a single source code that can reduce the cost and effort of development for these multiple platforms.
