Meet Imran Qazi, General Manager of Lapis IT
Imran has been with Spatial Vision for eight years and takes great satisfaction in solving complex problems with user-friendly and effective software solutions.
Describe your career to date
I began my career as a full-stack developer in 2000 and have taken on various roles since. For the past 10 years, I’ve held leadership positions, overseeing the delivery of custom software solutions for our clients. I take great satisfaction in solving complex problems with user-friendly and effective software solutions.
“My role is broad and covers many areas, but the most interesting part is that no two projects are the same. Working across different domains offers me the chance to continuously learn, and I have the privilege of collaborating with some of the most committed and passionate people”.
What attracted you to the geospatial industry?
I’ve always been fascinated by how software can improve people’s work, making it more efficient and effective. This passion led me to study computer science and pursue a career in an industry I truly love.
What are your main responsibilities at Spatial Vision?
I oversee the software development team at Lapis and manage all aspects of the business, including delivering custom solutions to clients, driving business development, shaping strategy, and managing financial performance.
What has been the most interesting project you’ve worked on so far?
It’s hard to choose just one project. I’ve been fortunate to work on many across various domains like Natural Resource Management, Emergency Services, and Licensing and Regulation. Each project comes with its own unique challenges and problems to solve.
Where do you see opportunities for Spatial Vision over the next few years?
The technology space is becoming more exciting with new advancements like AI and innovations in the mobile industry. This presents a great opportunity for us to assist our clients in more innovative ways. I envision faster application development, quicker time to market, and creating advanced solutions to solve problems that were impossible just a few years ago.
What does ‘paving the way for positive change’ mean for you? How will you bring that to life for your team and customers?
For me, paving the way for positive change is at the core of everything we do. It’s our guiding principle and our North Star. This drives my team and I to deliver impactful solutions in natural resource management, the environment, climate change, and agriculture. The projects we choose to work on reflect our commitment to this mission.
