We work alongside those dedicated to the regulation and management of our precious fisheries ecosystems, and support the aquaculture sector with the administration and operation of lease and permit management. By modernising IT capabilities, streamlining in-field catch and effort reporting, and consolidating manual and inefficient systems, we help remove red tape to enhance efficiency.
Fishing and marine organisations work with us to improve their productivity, efficiency and sustainability efforts with digital solutions that integrate seamlessly into their operations.
For more than 25 years, we’ve supported Australian jurisdictional fisheries organisations and agencies in North America, with industry leading information solutions.
Solutions include end-to-end fisheries administration systems used by authorities to manage licences, allocate quotas for harvesting, and streamline compliance and catch and effort reporting.

Victoria’s commercial fishers and aquaculture businesses work hard to supply domestic and international markets with an extensive variety of the world’s finest fisheries products including abalone, rock lobster, King George whiting and snapper.
The Victorian Fisheries Authority works to ensure Victoria’s fisheries and aquaculture businesses are viable, profitable and sustainable for future generations. Accordingly, to support this mission, the organisation required a solution to replace existing manual processes and streamline the reporting process. In particular, the solution needed to introduce electronic log books, reporting and data capture for selected commercial fisheries.
Spatial Vision’s Lapis team developed a comprehensive electronic reporting system known as ‘eCatch’ that is available to fishers as a smartphone and tablet app. The system provides an end-to-end service for catch reporting, including the creation and distribution of Catch Disposal Records.
The resulting app has transformed commercial fisheries catch and effort reporting. By comparison, instead of a monthly paper-based data collection process, now a fully automated, modern mobile application delivers information immediately. Moreover, this system provides end to-end reporting with offline capability, streamlining the recording of catch and effort and commercial fish landed and improving compliance reporting.
“Yesterday I received a call from a sea urchin diver who is the first fisher to use the app in production. He phoned me just to say how pleased he was with his first experience. To quote the diver, he said “The app worked like a dream”. He said it is very easy and quick to use and he is excited to use it again.”
